I cannot count on a three-year period at Manchester United - Amorim
Ruben Amorim - pictured getting support post May's Europa League final defeat - notes he is satisfied by the co-owner's long-term backing but stressed that the future is unpredictable in soccer.
United's manager Ruben Amorim believes it's crucial Sir Jim Ratcliffe publicly shared his extended perspective - but states nothing is guaranteed about tomorrow in football, much less three full years.
During a discussion with a leading newspaper recently, Sir Jim said it could take Amorim a three-year period to create substantial change at United's home ground.
Arriving during a time when the manager's position has been receiving close inspection following an extended sequence of poor performances, the comments helped quell certain present tensions.
However, talking ahead of the centenary clash with old rivals the Reds at Anfield, the manager underscored that what comes next is challenging to anticipate in football.
"It's certainly beneficial to listen to that but he communicates to me constantly, occasionally through communication after games - but recognize, I realize and the co-owner recognizes, that the sport isn't that predictable," he stated.
"The vital factor is the upcoming match. Even with owners, you cannot dictate the future in the sport."
CEO Omar Berrada has conceded it has required much more time for the head coach to acclimate to the Premier League following his move from his former club last November than anyone imagined.
United have won 10 successes in 34 league games during Amorim's tenure. They haven't managed back-to-back league wins and have not ended a matchday in the current term better than ninth place.
The worrying figures are challenging confidence in Amorim among the Red Devils supporters entering a sequence of matches the side has performed poorly in for the previous two campaigns.
Amorim said he isn't experiencing the doubt inside the club at the team's practice complex and is insistent nothing equals the stress he puts on the team - and in certain ways, he would choose the co-owner to avoid attempting to create tranquility because he fears the effect it might produce on the players.
"It isn't merely an item of conversation, I feel it each day," he stated. "It's truly positive to listen to it because it benefits our followers to grasp the administration realize it needs a period.
"However simultaneously, I dislike it because it generates a sense that we possess time to resolve issues. I don't wish for that sense in our organization.
"The pressure I apply to the squad or to myself is so much bigger [than that from outside]. In football, especially in big clubs, you need to prove your worth every matchday."
